Congregation Beth
Sholom is an inclusive Orthodox congregation located in the beautiful East Side of Providence,
Rhode Island.
Beth Sholom is a
synagogue that prides itself on dedication to Torah learning, community
building, social action and Religious Zionism. We join together in a shared love for our tradition and our
commitment to living that tradition in a modern world.
Torah Learning:
Every week you we have the opportunity to
study every aspect of rich texts and tradition. From Gemara shiurim to contemporary thinkers it is all
here. Guest speakers from around the
world have spoken from the Beth Sholom pulpit at our many annual Shabbatonim.
Some of our scholar-in-resident shabbatonim have featured Professor Nathan
Aviezer, Rabbi Ozer Glickman, Rabbi David Horwitz, Rabbi Natan Slifkin, Dr Marc
Shapiro and similar luminaries. As a community we have studied together a
variety of ancient and modern writings. Please click HERE for more information about our learning opportunities (and come back often, as this site is updated frequently).
Community Building:
We
pride ourselves on being an inclusive shul where each person is valued for who
they are. Our members include people who send their children to public school
and people who send their children to yeshivot. Our shul hosts two annual days of learning that bring
together Torah teachers from across the spectrum of the Providence Jewish
community. Every year we also host a “This I Believe” Shabbat where a member of
the community speaks from the pulpit in a very personal way.

Social Action:
Judy’s
Kindness Kitchen at Beth Sholom is our primary chesed (social action)
program. Every week hundreds of
kosher sandwiches and gallons of delicious soup are prepared at the shul
kitchen and delivered and served to the homeless and the hungry at the Crossroads
Homeless Shelter in Rhode Island.
Religious Zionism:
The
tone of our shul is Zionist. Many of our members have family living in the
State of Israel and we pray for the state’s welfare. We recognize and celebrate
the modern Jewish holidays associated with the State of Israel.
